Our story
Single Crystal Diamond is a US company of semiconductor scientists who previously contributed to breakthroughs in gallium arsenide (GaAs) growth for RF electronics, mobile communications, satellite technologies, and advanced silicon-on-insulator (SOI) microprocessors.
SCD leadership were also the first to bring CVD diamond to market in 2001 as part of Apollo Diamond and immediately recognized its potential for quantum and semiconductor applications. SCD holds a broad and well-protected IP portfolio, developed with $40M in investment over the past few decades.
Today, we are driving the realization of large-area, electronic- and quantum-grade chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamond. The same scientific leadership that perfected SOI replication and mosaic-tiling approaches now applies these methods to diamond.
Our diamond has low defect densities, reduced internal strain, and controlled doping.

We are also leading the growth of diamond in the microgravity environment of space. Space manufacturing is a $3B market growing to $19B over the next decade due to commercial producers like us. We will ride this wave of next-generation materials using the United State’s massive advantages in spaceflight heritage. In-space production will augment our terrestrial manufacturing for markets where only the highest diamond quality will suffice.
